**This is a slogan we created that captures the essence of this village.
All ages are welcome. In today's world, many people in various stages of their career are suffering, or close to burnout. Here are some signs of burnout:
Feeling tired or drained most of the time / Feeling helpless, trapped, or defeated / Feeling detached or alone
Having a cynical or negative outlook / Self-doubt / Procrastinating / Feeling overwhelmed
No longer caring about things that are important to you / Experiencing an increasing sense of hopelessness
Burnout can also cause physical symptoms, such as: gastrointestinal problems, high blood pressure, poor immune function, reoccurring headaches, and sleep issues.
Read more about burnout, which is included in the WHO International Classification of Diseases as an occupational phenomenon.
Research shows, people benefit from chilling out, or just being.
The diverse array of livelihoods and cultural interests in Dhasa, our Retirement Village, is what makes this place so perfect for you to recover or reconnect with yourself.
Come and watch Himalayan sunsets, learn how to play chess or an instrument, or write your manuscript. Or simply rest.
You're welcome to stay for a few days, weeks, or longer. And if you'd like, meet other folks who are "in-between jobs," "on sabbatical," or "just chilling for a while." They may have great wisdom to share!
Choose from activities with guidance from locally sourced practitioners. A few of our go-to's, year-round:
Walking through cedar forests; cafe-hopping
Writers' workshop; poetry reading
Tables tennis; board games
Arts/crafts: jewelry making, pottery, thangka painting, traditional dance, and more
Gallery, museum and cultural site visits, such as the Dalai Lama temple

Located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas, there are many short treks (with various difficulties and rewarding views) within reach for people who consider themselves moderately fit.
It is required that you have the physical ability to climb a few flights of stairs with relative ease (or at least, slow & steady resolve). The Dhasa lifestyle is full of hills and heights.

“Meditation is the practice of focusing the mind. Now I had begun the practice of focusing the mind on my inner self and with that came another sense of priorities.
I began to understand that if every time before I performed, I took a moment and I paused, and I offered what I was about to do, to the source of creativity, that the work that I was about to do became an offering.
It changed the way I worked. It changed the way I felt about my work, and it changed the way audiences received it, because now it was service.”
